What You'll Do:

 

National Health Care Associates, a premier provider of long-term care and short-term rehabilitation services, is seeking an experienced Skilled Nursing Collections Specialist to join our Accounts Receivable team at our Corporate Office in Valley Stream, NY, on Long Island’s south shore near the Queens border. This role supports Private Pay, Medicaid Pending, and settlement accounts through close collaboration with facility teams, regional partners, and the Director of AR Operations.

 

This position requires strong skilled nursing facility billing knowledge, a thorough understanding of Medicaid regulations, and the ability to work effectively and timely with external collection attorneys.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review high-dollar, challenged accounts referred by facilities and determine appropriate next steps in the collection process, which will include but is not limited to:
    • Communicate with responsible parties to resolve outstanding balances prior to attorney referral
    • Identify when Power of Attorney, guardianship, or conservatorship is required to support collection efforts
    • Refer accounts to collection agencies or attorneys as appropriate
    • Resolve denied and underpaid claims in a timely and accurate manner
  • Screen Medicaid Pending applications for New York State facilities to identify potential issues prior to admission
  • Utilize Prime Claims, PointClickCare (PCC), and state/insurance portals to review account status, validate accuracy, and confirm prior collection efforts have been exhausted
  • Use PointClickCare (PCC) to review payments, adjustments, and collection notes, and compile documentation to support referrals and collection activities
  • Partner with internal counsel and the Director of AR Operations on complex accounts requiring additional review and resolution

What You'll Bring:

 

Qualifications of a Skilled Nursing Collections Specialist include:

  • 5–7 years of experience in Skilled Nursing collections
  • Familiarity with healthcare billing practices and regulations
  • Proficiency in Point Click Care (PCC), standard office equipment and computer applications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially with facility team members, collection attorneys and their paralegals
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven with strong organizational skills, while supporting and mentoring team members
